In July 2007 I participated in the exhibition “Miðbaugur og Kringla” in Reykjavik, Iceland. The project took place partly in Iceland’s biggest shopping mall Kringlan, and partly in downtown Reykjavik. The two holy places of Icelandic consumer society. I changed my whole production budget to Icelandic 500 kr bills (the smallest value on bill, roughly equalling 5 Euro), all in all 200 bills. On each of them I made a pencil drawing of the Ebola virus as seen through microscope. On the day of the opening I went shopping in the mall, spreading the bills in as many shops as possible to maximize circulation.   

Outside the office of the national bank the text as seen on the previous page was presented for the duration of the show. Soon after the exhibition the Icelandic economy crashed...
